Slideshow: Shore Students Play a Little Stickball at Garfield Historic Site

About 90 Shore Middle School students relaxed on their last day of school by playing old-timey baseball and learning about the Civil War

About 90 eighth graders from visited Monday.

They toured President James Garfield's Mentor home, drilled like Civil War soldiers and played old-fashioned stickball on the lawn.

The students used equipment meant to replicate the experience back when baseballs were made from lemon peel and bats were heavier with almost no handle.
