More specifically, it is the inaugural season of the Lake Elementary afterschool kickball league.

For the last six weeks, about 100 Lake students -- one-third of the school's student body -- have been hanging around after class on Tuesdays and Thursdays to play kickball.

The games have been fun but, just as importantly, it's allowed the students to bond through competition.

The league could not have happened without the Lake Elementary staff and parents who volunteered their time to supervise the games.

The league played its final games of the year Thursday; but Lake Elementary hopes to bring the program back next year.
