Mentor Schools Board of Education Approves Land Lease with T-Mobile

The district's administration is working on an agreement that would allow T-Mobile to build a cellular tower at Memorial Middle School

The Mentor Schools Board of Education approved a land lease agreement with T-Mobile that will likely lead to a cellphone tower outside of .

The members of the board voted unanimously in favor of it during a meeting Tuesday.

The district's CFO Daniel Wilson said the administration was still in talks with T-Mobile about the details of the lease. However, it looked like the final deal would be similar to the one T-Mobile made to build a tower outside of .

Wilson said he expected the lease to make about $21,000 a year for the district, which would be earmarked for instructional training.

The district has also approved two separate land leases with AT & T outside of  thus far, the communications company has only built one cellular tower.

Wilson said this is all part of the district's ongoing mission to bring in non-tax revenue.
