Mentor School District Launches Facebook Page, Twitter Feed

Mentor Schools' new Superintendent Matt Miller has already made one change to the district before the school year even begins.

He has brought them into the realm of social media with a Facebook page (link here) and Twitter feed (@MentorSchools.) Mentor High School sports also has an official home on Twitter, as well -- @MentorAthletics.

"I truly believe that good communication practices are one of the keys to our district and students’ success," Miller wrote in a welcome message on the Mentor Schools web site.

"We plan to use these tools to have just one more way to share positive stories about the district and its students with you."

The district's Facebook messages and tweeting will not replace previous forms of communication that they used with parents. It still intends to use MentorSchools.net, Parent Portal and its phone notification system to keep people informed, as well.

Miller also talked about some other forthcoming changes to the district in his welcome message. For example, he discusses upcoming changes for state testing and how it will impact Mentor Schools.

"We are currently gearing up for potential changes as to how students will be tested in the future, as it appears all districts in Ohio will be required to move to an online format," Miller writes.

"I want to make sure our students in Mentor see that new testing format prior to when it goes into effect so they’re ready and our teachers are ready for the change in the next coming years."
