Mentor School Board Recognizes Academic, Art & Athletic Acheivements
The board lauded the accomplishments of students over the past couple of months
The Mentor Board of Education recognized a slew of students for various accomplishments over the past few months.
Officials spread the praise across academics, arts and athletics before a packed board meeting on Tuesday evening. The students were called up to the stage, received certificates, shook hands with district officials, instructors, coaches and more.
Cardinal Challenge
Memorial Middle School students were recognized for winning this year's Cardinal Challenge, a five-round competition where students answer questions ranging from current events to math to religion. Memorial has won the event for the past three years. These students were recognized:

Winter Sports
Mentor Athletic Director Jeff Cassella spoke about the accomplishments of the following three Ohio state tournament qualifiers:
- Colin Kramer, senior, wrestling. All Northeast Ohio Conference selection, 30-13 record in 2012-2013.
- Maria Coy, sophomore, swimming. Qualified for states in the 200 Intermediate and 100 Breaststroke. All Northeast Ohio Conference. Broke the school record in 200 and 500 freestyles.
- Madeline Marshall, freshman, gymnastics. Finished 22nd in bars at state tournament.
