Mentor Public Schools Warn Residents About Telephone Scam

Scammer's number appears on caller ID as “School Call”

Mentor Public Schools is warning residents about a scammer who is fraudulently asking for donations, claiming to represent the district or one of its booster groups.

Furthermore, the scammer's number appears on caller ID as “School Call,” according to the school district's web site.

These calls, or any others like them, are not coming from the Mentor School district or any of our booster/parent organizations.

The FBI recommends that if you’re ever unsure about a caller, you should hang up and try to contact the organization directly with any questions.

The Mentor Public Schools district can be reached at 440-255-4444.

we received a call like this from a 330 area code so we wrote to the superintendent and he was good enough to look into it for us----watch your caller ID is the best way to find out ---then don't donate---call the police or the school board

These scammers are terrible! They take advantage of people's trust and kindness and use it to steal their money. I have read several complaints posted at http://www.callercenter.com and I'm alarmed to know that this particular scam is prevalent nowadays. What can we do to stop it?
