Memorial Middle School Places Sixth in National Science Olympiad

Memorial placed in the top six of six events in the "B" division

Memorial Middle School became the first middle school to ever represent the district at the National Science Olympiad tournament this weekend, and the team didn't disappoint.

According to results from the tournament, Memorial placed sixth overall in the "B" division for middle schools. The event, held at Wright State University in Dayton, featured 120 Science Olympiad teams representing more than 2,000 students.

  • Metric Mastery — 1st
  • Helicopters — 3rd
  • Keep The Heat — 3rd
  • Road Scholar — 4th
  • Rocks and Minerals — 4th
  • Forestry — 6th

Solon middle and high schools claimed the top spots in both the "B" and "C" divisions.

Memorial qualified for the national tournament after winning a runner-up title in April at the state tournament in Columbus.
