Lake Catholic Kicking It For Kids With Cancer

Lake Catholic High School is hosting a kickball tournament this Friday that will raise money for the families of two children who are fighting cancer

Kickball is already fun so the only way to make it better is to play for a good cause.

And more than 300 people will be playing for a great cause this Friday at .

The Kick It For Cancer tournament will raise money for cancer research and treatment, as well as for the families of a pair of 8-year-old girls who are fighting cancer.

The two girls are:

  • Sara Hudson who has T-cell lymphoma. She's also the daughter of Lake Catholic biology teacher Scott Hudson.
  • , a girl from Kirtland whose leukemia has returned for the third time. Potter is also related to several Lake Catholic staff and faculty members, including Matthew Moran, Peter Moran and John Gibbons.

Erin's family and friends run a Caring Bridge site updating people on her progress.

They have also started the social media movement dubbed Bieber 4 Potter. It encourages pop star Justin Bieber to meet with Erin, who is a diehard fan. Celebrities from comedian Aziz Ansari to cast members of Jersey Shore have already tweeted #Bieber4Potter in support.

Bieber 4 Potter's Facebook page already has more than 23,000 supporters.

People can show their support for Sara and Erin by donating to the Kick It event.

Those who don't want to play kickball or get a team together can still donate and come to the tournament, which begins at 11 a.m..

There will be cornhole and other games, as well as a DJ and a 50/50 raffle.

Additionally, all the money made from concessions Friday will go to the fight against cancer.

The event has several other local sponsors in addition to Lake Catholic. They include , , , Data Basics, and Snow Brothers Appliance.
