Hopkins Elementary Student Donates Lemonade Stand Money To Charity

Emma St. Hilaire raised $260 for the Matt Henk Foundation

A 6-year-old girl gave one of the biggest donations this year to the .

And it wasn't "big" because of its amount; it was big because it was everything she had.

Emma St. Hilaire, a first grader at , made $260 at her lemonade stand this summer. Then she gave it all to the Matt Henk Foundation, which helps support the family of Matt Henk, a Mentor firefighter who died from colon cancer in 2009.

Henk is also Emma's uncle.

At the times of his death, Henk left behind a wife and infant twin daughters.

The Matt Henk Foundation also helps causes that mattered to its namesake.

Those causes include Ireland Cancer Center, Mentor Youth Hockey – Henk loved to play hockey and his jersey is retired at  – and the family of Cleveland firefighter Tom Hough, who also died because of cancer in 2010.
