Cash Mob Founder Talking At Lakeland Today

Andrew Samtoy is holding a free lunchtime lecture today at Lakeland Community College

Andrew Samtoy -- the founder of the Cash Mob -- is giving a free lunchtime lecture from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. today in room T-129 at Lakeland Community College.

Samtoy will share how the Cash Mob movement began, what local businesses have benefitted from the cause (including those in and ) and how the public can get involved.

The Cash Mob is a spin off of Flash Mobs, which is when people would break out into spontaneous activities for surprise and entertainment purposes at a pre-determined location.

By comparison, Cash Mobs are when people gather at a local small business to support them.

They have three rules:

The ultimate goal is to help small businesses generate customers, interest, publicity and sales.

Samtoy graduated from Pitzer College in Claremont, CA, with a double major in political science and English and world literature. Then he earned his juris doctor from Case Western Reserve School of Law.
