Air Force Member Surprises Sister at Mentor Graduation

Michael Kakias hadn't seen Alana in the two years since he left for the Middle East.

Michael Kakias has been deployed to the Middle East for the past two years, but the most nerve-wracking moments of his life arrived Saturday morning at a Cleveland State University loading dock.

That's where the U.S. Air Force heavy equipment operator awaited the arrival of his sister, Alana, who he had not seen since he left the country. He was there to surprise Alana, who was one of 629 Mentor High School graduates in the Class of 2013. He stood up against a wall until he sprinted to give Alana a hug as she got off a bus.

He had been hiding out at an aunt's house since he arrived about a week ago.

"Literally everybody was in on it but her," said Michael, a 2010 Mentor graduate. "Even some of her friends knew, and that was the difficult part."

Alana said she looks forward to hanging out with her brother for the two weeks he is here in Northeast Ohio.

Watch the video above to see the moment Michael gave his little sister the surprise of a lifetime.
