U.S. Rep. Steven LaTourette, Ohio State Sen. John Eklund, Ohio Reps. Ron Young and Lorraine Fende, Lake County Commissioner Dan Troy and Max Blachman, a representative for U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, spoke at the breakfast and answered questions from the audience.

Troy explained the commissioners' rationale for increasing . He said the increase was necessary to continue providing services the county is mandated to do.

Troy is running to be the state representative for Ohio's 60th district. His opponents in the Democratic primary are Laura DePledge, an Eastlake councilwoman and attorney, and James Helmink, an attorney and small business web site developer from Willowick.

Whoever wins the primary will face off against Republican Lori DiNallo, who is running unopposed, in November.
