Planning Commission to Vote on Permit for New Auto Dealer at Former Honda Site

The commission is scheduled to vote on a permit that would make the way for a new tenant at the former Honda dealership on Mentor Avenue

A new car dealership may be filling the vacancy left when the Mentor moved from Mentor Avenue to Market Street.

The Planning Commission is scheduled to vote on a conditional-use permit for the new dealer during its meeting 7 p.m. at .

The owner of the former Honda dealer, Gene Norris, told The News-Herald that he was asked not to divulge the name of the new dealership until the meeting.

The Honda dealer moved in 2010. Earlier this year, had shown interest in putting an Audi dealership the vacant building.

However, Penske's interest in the location has since waned.

At the meeting, the Planning Commission is also scheduled to vote on:

  • a conditional-use permit for a new rental truck facility on East Avenue
  • a permit for an automobile repair shop on Tyler Boulevard.
