Planning Commission Approves Red Lobster Reimaging

The restaurant is looking to redesign its exterior

Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve Red Lobster's proposed makeover during its meeting 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall.

The restaurant's reimaging will include:

  • removing the existing entrance canopy and support columns and reconstructing the front entrance
  • installing a standing seam metal roof to replace the current shingled roog
  • repainting the building exterior burgundy red and oxford white
  • replacing the outdoor light fixtures.

The restaurant will also add a sidewalk between Reynolds Road and the parking lot, as well as resurface and stripe the lot.

Red Lobster will not need to close for these renovations. Instead, the construction will be completed during the hours when the restaurant is normally closed.

They should spend a few extra bucks and redesign the drainage at their entrance. Their drive apron constantly looks like a lake, which should be awesome if it ever gets cold this winter.

The city as a whole needs to take a good look at drainage issues throughout the city- specifically in residential areas. Your comment reminded me of that need, so I figured I'd point it out. I do agree with you about fixing some of these commercial zoned "lakes" which become a safety hazard during the winter.
