Mentor City Council To Vote On Grant For New Business Tonight

Mentor City Council will meet 7 p.m. tonight at and they are scheduled to vote on a grant for a business that wants to move to Mentor.

DMI Manufacturing -- a business that manufactures, supplies and distributes parts that are used by the restaurant industry nationally and internationally -- is housed in Willoughby right now.

However, it wants to buy and move into an unoccupied building at 7177 Industrial Park Boulevard.

The move, as well as updates and repairs to the property, will cost more than $450,000, according to the legislation provided to City Council members.

Consequently, Council can vote on a 1-time grant of $10,000 to reimburse DMI Manufacturing for moving costs.

DMI has 10 full-time employees and a payroll of more than $1 million. If it were to move to Mentor, it would generate $54,000 in payroll tax during the next three years, according to legislation.

Also at the City Council meeting:

The city administration recommended a $25,000 contract with Pyrotecnico, because Pyrotecnico is offering 369 more 4-inch shells and 34 more 5-inch shells than the next closest bidder, Mad Bomber.
