Candidate Statement: Mentor needs a City Council that will look to provide a clear direction for our city as we continue to develop and grow. The future of our city will require us to work together as an inclusive group and will require us to be creative in the redevelopment of land.

I offer the city the opportunity to take a fresh direction by bringing new creative ideas for economic development and ensuring that our quality of life is not disrupted.

Wise management of finances and strategic planning going forward are the keys to doing this. We need to work with the business community to ensure that they are provided with the tools to be successful.

This includes “out of the box” ideas to reimage the industrial areas and ensuring that our commercial corridor is held with the highest standards. A strong business base will help stabilize the population and even allow us to attract new residents.

The success of our city will be the strategic planning for the future. We should be looking down the road five to 10 years, ensuring that we have a solid plan for the needs of the community regarding road maintenance and capital improvements.
