Candidate Statement: Local government is the bedrock of our country. Kitchen table, backyard BBQ, neighbor-by-neighbor issues and concerns build the sense of freedom with which we govern ourselves.

My interest to serve the people of Mentor, Ward 1, is to do my civic duty which is driven by a strong desire to keep government small and our citizens' liberties large. Being the largest of 23 localities in Lake County, Mentor should lead by example. When times present challenges, we should step up.

Council should add to the agenda and discuss 'running from cover' and resolve it. There is no need for councilpeople to jump from seat to seat.

When there is a residential 'water' issue, prompt attention and assistance should be given and records kept. Follow-up should come from council until the problem is resolved to the reasonable satisfaction of the resident.

Federal grant monies should be scrutinized so as not to cause hidden stress on Mentor's finances. There is no such thing as 'free government money.'

I like a business-friendly community. Mentor is one of the greatest places to operate a business. With creative incentives our commercial real estate opportunities can bring more prosperity to Mentor's citizens.

I appreciate the chance to offer my ability to keep Mentor a strong and safe place for our families. Thank You.
