Mentor Board of Zoning Appeals to Review Three Variances

Mentor American Legion Requesting Variance for Second Freestanding Sign in Business District

The Mentor Board of Zoning Appeals will review three variances at its regular meeting Tuesday, 7 p.m., at Mentor City Hall.

Joseph and Barbara Mongelluzzi are requesting a variance to install a second curb/cut access drive at 8893 Perkins Avenue. City code limits only one curb/cut access drive in a family residential district.

Steven and Ofelia Johnson are requesting a variance to allow an addition to an existing garage with a 12-foot side setback and a 29-foot rear setback at 7398 Parker Drive. City code requires a minimum side setback of 15-foot and a minimum 50-foot rear setback.

Douglas Koman, commander of the George E. Hayward American Legion Post #9295, is requesting a variance to install a second freestanding sign for the American Legion building at 8682 Mentor Avenue. City code limits businesses to one freestanding sign exclusive of entrance and exit signs.
