Mayor's Secretary Lawsuit Update: Settlement Conference Scheduled For Friday

A trial in the wrongful termination lawsuit against Mayor Susan Drucker is scheduled for September if parties can't reach a deal before that.

UPDATE: The settlement conference scheduled for today was canceled, according to court records.

A settlement conference is scheduled for Friday in the wrongful termination lawsuit against Solon Mayor Susan Drucker

The conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, and officials with settlement authority are required to attend in person, according to court records.

A settlement in the case brought by former mayor's secretary Sally Deitrick against Drucker and the city would prevent the need for a trial, currently slated to begin in late September.

Deitrick is Drucker's former secretary. In the lawsuit, Deitrick alleges that Drucker fired her because she was old, and that Drucker had something against the city's older employers. Drucker countered that Deitrick was unreliable, untrustworthy and bad at her job.

The city's attorneys tried to get the lawsuit tossed out, but the judge rejected that motion.

The case is more than a year old, but will likely see some resolution this year. Judge Peter J. Corrigan has set all trial dates as firm and no more continuances will be given.
