Lake County, Ohio Unemployment Rates Drop In November

Mentor unemployment rate stays at 5.3 percent

The city of Mentor's unemployment rate , its lowest rate since November 2008, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

By comparison, the city's unemployment rate was ,  and 6.6 percent November 2010.

Meanwhile, Lake County's unemployment rate dropped from 6.5 percent in October to 6.2 percent in November. Similarly, the state dropped .8 percent to 7.6 percent during the same time span.

Mentor has the second lowest unemployment rate of the 65 communities in Ohio for which data is collected and the lowest for any city with a population of more than 50,000, according to Ron Traub, the city's director of economic development.

Mentor's unemployment rate peaked in January and February of 2010 at 8.7 percent.
