Democrats Choose Dan Troy As Their Candidate In The 60th District

Troy topped Laura DePledge and James Helmink to earn the nomination

Democrats have picked Lake County Commissioner Dan Troy to be their candidate for the state's 60th district in Ohio House of Representatives, according to unofficial vote totals.

Troy almost garnered as many votes, 3,579 as his opponents combined.

Laura DePledge, an Eastlake councilwoman and attorney, and James Helmink, an attorney and small business web site developer from Willowick, received 1,936 and 2,013 votes, respecively.

Troy will face off against Republican Lori DiNallo, who ran unopposed in the primary, this November.

The representatives' 60th district is an open race without an incumbent because its current representative, Bob Hagan, now lives in the 58th district and will be running there.

Due to Ohio's redistricting, the city of Mentor is now split between two districts for state representatives.

The 60th district includes the fourth ward of Mentor, Mentor-on-the-Lake, Eastlake, Fairport, Grand River, Painesville, parts of Painesville Township, Wickliffe, Willoughby and Willowick.
