Deer Culling Is Done: 300 Deer Killed In Solon

Dave Hromco, appointed by the mayor to oversee the deer culling program, said they are now evaluating how things went.

Deer culling is complete in Solon, and 300 deer have been killed in the last two months in an effort to reduce the population and prevent deer-caused car crashes.

Dave Hromco, who is , said that sharpshooting wrapped up last week and that they reached the goal of culling 300 deer from the herd. He said they are now evaluating how the program went for future years.

Hromco said there the program worked well and there were no issues at any of the . The carcasses from the deer were processed and the meat was donated to local hunger shelters.

"We would like to thank the people of Solon who cooperated with the safety forces and the U.S. Department of Agriculture to help make this a successful program," he said.

The sharpshooting operations were conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Divison of Wildlife. Shooters worked from stationary locations on a couple of dozen of sites around the city, mostly private property by some city-owned parcels as well.

Oh and don't forget they do kill deer's natural predators which is also another factor in over abundance of deer which the DNR is happy about but of course they want more Buck then does and knows killing with food plot, supplement feeding does give more birth and chances of a male fawn. http://mathew5-7.blogspot.com/2009/08/this-is-why-we-have-too-many-deer.html. People in Solon who let this go on has just as much blood in their hands, instead of worrying about your lilac bushes or lyme disease which is another of the hunting industry's myth. As I said I lived with abundance of deer and have been up close to many but I just had a complete physical and even did a lyme disease which I did not request part I suppose it's part of the complete physical and I still do not have any. Deer is not the cause of lyme disease, it's the white footed mouse and if you rid of all the deer you think you are safe. I heard higher chances of lyme disease when there is NO deer in ones yard. They will hop onto your little fido, birds, mouse, and many other species of wildlife. They blame the deer because one can see the tick on their head but ever watch deer groom each other. Here is a video of mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmOODJypImM&list=UUAEcS5rsCxvUxBIsAYv08NQ&index=37&feature=plcp The 45 acres next to our home is a killing field but still I see deer after deer. Deer DO NOT cause lyme disease (read to the right) http://www.nocull.org/

Christian-how many "food plots" are inside Solon city limits that are contributing to to this overabundant deer populations? Before sharpshooting was initiated several years ago, how did the deer population get so high within the city limits? Shouldn't it have leveled off somehow? There was no hunting prior to that within the city, so it could not be from this CRE that you are talking about? I do agree that a multi-pronged approach is necessary. Exclusion from yards and possibly roads should be evaluated. If your argument revolves around a CRE, then I suggest you research a little bit more of how it works before you hang your hat on it. Oh, and by the way, my claim of being a wildlife biologist is not just self annointed. I am looking at a piece of paper right now from The Wildlife Society that tells me I have those qualifications.

The hunting agencies love mangled cars, they love to put fear of lyme disease or how if they don't kill deer it will "spread diseases". Yet I read hunting worsens wildlife disease epidemic http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/07/060714174141.htm. Hunting is a business and the whitetails brings in 70% of the bloody income so they will come up with all sorts of lies and they have the back up of some powerful people like the NRA and pro-kill Government so it's quiet easy to lie to the public. It doesn't take science to realize why deer numbers are growing, DVA is growing too yet the hunting industry refuses IC deer birth control, streiter-lite , fences etc. No matter what you will always have deer and we all have to learn to co exist with them in a compassionate , non lethal, non dangerous solution. In this day and age KILLING is not necessary anymore. Would you like to be killed because some species with much higher intelligence then Earthlings decides there are "too many of us" so they will shoot us down. Would you like that for all those pro- deer killers or would you like them to choose compassion? Answer anyone??

CMS- aha, so that explains your suport of death and destruction. You are a biostitute. The Wildlife Society?? Really, give me a break. They are nothing more than a merry band of blood-lusting, death deviants.. Anthony Denicola, Solon's previous exterminator, is a member of the Wildlife Society who slaughter in unfathomable numbers all in the name of wildlife mgmt. Nothing more need be said.

How about we all decide to adhere to forum rules and use our full AND REAL names! I don't see any point in debating with ghosts, or initials purported to belong to subject matter experts whose credentials can't be verified. How about we debate the facts and stop the name calling. It really doesn't help your credibility.
