Census Shows that Mentor Is Smaller, Older City Than It Was 10 Years Ago
Mentor goes against trend in county and has lost population in the last 10 years
Mentor is an older, less-populous city than it was 10 years ago, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, which released demographic information on the city today.
Mentor lost about 3,000 residents in the last 10 years even as its county gained about 3,000 residents.
The average age of the city's residents also seems to be increasing. In 2000, 26 percent of the people living in Mentor were children. By 2010, that number had slipped to 21 percent.
