Woman Sentenced To Jail For Attacking Mother

A Mentor woman was sentenced to at least two months in jail for attacking her mother.

Chassidey Hahn, 41, had previously pleaded no contest a charge of domestic violence and was found guilty in Mentor Municipal Court.

A "no contest" plea is one where the defendant neither admits nor disputes a charge.

This is the third time Hahn has been convicted of domestic violence.

Judge John Trebets sentenced Hahn to 180 days in jail. However, he suspended 120 of those days so she can avoid serving them if she stays out of anymore trouble.

Hahn's jail sentence does not begin until April 1. In the meantime, she will continue to receive drug and alcohol counseling.

Hahn was arrested after fighting with her 59-year-old mother and her friend on Sept. 9. Hahn had been watching a football game and drinking when she suddenly charged at her mother and began hitting her in the face, according to what witnesses told police.

A friend of Hahn's mother -- a 53-year-old woman -- tried to intercede and Hahn hit her too, Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien said at the time Hahn was arrested.

Ultimately, the friend's husband was able to restrain Hahn until Mentor Police arrived at the home to arrest her.

Hahn was also charged with assault but that charge was later dropped.

Hahn has been convicted of domestic violence twice before, Zbiegien said, once in Mentor Municipal Court in 2010.
