Woman Accused of Swiping DVDs from Bookstore

Danielle Jolley is accused of stealing more than $600 worth of DVDs from Barnes & Noble

A woman is accused of stealing more than $600 worth of DVDs from the in Mentor.

A bookstore employee spotted Danielle Jolley, 34, of Perry, slipping a DVD in her canvas bag Saturday afternoon, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

The employee stopped Jolley on her way out of the store and demanded the DVD back. Jolley returned it but, after she left, employees saw that other DVDs were missing, including season sets for 30 Rock, Weeds, Mad Men, Justified and an Alfred Hitchcock Premier Collection.

The bookstore employees knew who Jolley was because she had been involved in a shoplifting investigation at a Barnes & Noble in Westlake, Powers said.

Police arrested Jolley from her home and she was arraigned Monday in Mentor Municipal Court.

Judge John Trebets set her bond at $10,000, which was not posted Monday morning. Her next court appearance is scheduled for April 25.

If convicted of a felony theft, Jolley could face anything from probation to one year in prison.
