A woman has been charged with robbery after she scuffled with a security guard during an attempted shoplifting on Wednesday, Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien said.

Krystal Lyde, 23, and her sister Tierra Lyde, 18, both of Cleveland, picked up items from the J.C. Penney department store and tried to fraudulently return them for gift cards, Zbiegien said.

However, the security guard found the Lydes suspicious and tried to stop them. Krystal Lyde then struck the guard in the face and the women ran away, Zbiegien said.
