Twins Convicted of Corrupting Cousin Will Not Face More Jail Time

Mentor Municipal Court Judge John Trebets said Alanna and Aleinna Andrekovic, 18, will only return to jail if they violate their probation

Mentor Municipal Court Judge John Trebets was visibly pleased when he heard that no drugs showed up on either Alanna or Aleinna Andrekovic's drug tests Monday.

"I wish you could come in here and see the ways people ruin their lives with drugs," Trebets told them.

The Andrekovics are 18-year-old twin sisters who lived in Mentor until recently. They were convicted of contributing to the delinquency of a minor earlier this year .

Trebets sentenced the Andrekovics this afternoon. He gave them each 180 days in jail but suspended 158 days of the sentence indefinitely as long as they don't get into any more trouble.

Alanna or Aleinna Andrekovic won't have to serve the other 22 days either, because they were credited for the 22 days they already spent in jail when first arrested.

Trebets also sentenced the twins to drug treatment as part of their punishment.

Their attorney, Ron Annotico, said the Andrekovics have stayed clean since they got in trouble.

"Being 18, they've both got a long life ahead of them and they need to get on the right track," Annotico said.

Initially, the twins, corrupting another with drugs. However, their charge was reduced to a misdemeanor when they pleaded.

"You should thank your attorney," Trebets said to the twins. "He did a good job. At the beginning of this you were looking at felonies. You could have faced 18 months in prison."
