Trio Suspected Of Making Drug-Laced Gummy Candies

Mentor Police arrested the trio, who face several drug possession charges

Mentor Police arrested a trio of New York residents who are suspected of, among other things, making drug-laced gummy candies.

A Mentor policeman saw a car speeding on Mentor Avenue shortly after midnight Tuesday and stopped it in the parking lot of a gas station, Mentor Police Lt. Tim Allen said.

The officer smelled alcohol on the breath of the driver, Eric Kenny, and arrested him on suspicion of driving drunk, Allen said.

While searching the car, police found several drugs, drug ingredients and paraphernalia, Allen said, including:

  • several tablets of Ecstasy (MDMA)
  • chemical powders including methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) -- a stimulant that is sometimes used as a recreational drug
  • four grams of marijuana
  • two pipes
  • four digital scales
  • two hand grinders
  • molds to make gummy bears
  • 60 gummy bears

The three men in the car -- Kenny, Arkady Koroshihk and Michal Nemcok -- are suspected of using the powders and molds to make drug-laced gummy candies, Allen said.

All three men face a trio felony drug charges -- possession of methamphetamine, Ecstasy and MDPV. They also face misdemeanor charges of possessing dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Kenny, 22, of Chester, NY, was also charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Koroshikh, 26, of Brooklyn, NY, was charged with wrongful entrustment because it was his car Kenny was driving. Finally, Nemcok, 23, of Selden, NY, was also charged with marijuana possession.

Lt. Allen said they may face additional charges when the investigation is finished.

All three suspects were arraigned Wednesday in . Judge John Trebets set Koroshikh and Nemcok's bond at $100,000 and Kenny's at $105,500.

None us the suspects posted bond. Their next court hearing is scheduled for June 28.
