A man who left his driver's license behind while trying to rip off a department store has pleaded guilty to theft and was sentenced to six months in jail.
James Lucci, 24, of Willougby, tried to return some stolen suits for store credit Thursday to the JC Penney in the Great Lakes Mall, according to the Mentor Police Department Facebook page.
When a security guard approached him, Lucci ran away. However, he left his ID behind.
Mentor Police officers soon arrested Lucci on the west end of the mall.
Lucci pleaded guilty to theft Friday in Mentor Municipal Court and Acting Judge Jeff McGaffick sentenced him to six months in jail.
