Teens Arrested for Vandalizing Building at Mentor Beach Park

Mentor-on-the-Lake Police arrested the teens for causing damage to the City of Mentor-owned property.

Mentor-on-the-Lake Police arrested three teens in late May for vandalizing the building at Mentor Beach Park.

The Mentor Police Department first got a call at 7:19 p.m. on May 27 about the incident, Lt. Tim Allen said. The department soon informed MOTL Police because the building is in that city's jurisdiction, though the City of Mentor owns the property.

According to a Mentor City Council memo, the teens are accused of causing holes in the drywall, broken ceiling tiles, light fixtures, and a broken window. Allen said his department initially estimated the damage at more than $1,500, but said that figure was premature because the case soon turned over to MOTL Police. An MOTL officer had no additional information.

The teens are believed to have gained entry through an unlocked window. They were charged with breaking and entering and vandalism.
