About 70 Robert Shiner Campaign Signs Stolen

The signs were stolen from people's yards throughout Mentor's Ward 1, according to the police report

City Council President and Ward 1 candidate filed a police report Wednesday saying about dozens of his campaign signs had been stolen from yards throughout the ward.

He initially guessed about about 100 signs were taken but he has since scaled that number back to about 70.

"It's disheartening," Shiner said.

The signs are thought to be stolen between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. In many cases, the thief -- or thieves as the case may be -- left the wire frame behind.

Robert Marrott, one of the people whose sign was taken, told police that he didn't hear or see anything during the time frame of the theft.

Shiner said he would not have called the police if only two or three signs were taken.

Each sign is worth five dollars.

Shiner is running against , and for the Ward 1 seat.
