Police: Man Threatens to Stab Ex-Girlfriend

Man told his ex-girlfriend he would stab her 19 times, according to Mentor Police

A man is accused of threatening to stab his former girlfriend.

Bobby Higgins, 55, went to see his ex-girlfriend Friday night at the Mentor Trailer Park on Mentor Avenue, Mentor Police Lt. Tom Powers said.

Higgins threatened her, so she called police who warned him to stay away or he would be charged with trespassing, Powers said.

Higgins came back later that night and specifically threatened to stab his ex-girlfriend 19 times, Powers said.

The woman called police again. However, Higgins resisted when the police tried to arrest him so an officer tackled Higgins so they could handcuff him.

Higgins was taken to Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby where he was treated for his minor injuries and turned back over to police custody.

Higgins was charged with misdemeanor counts of menacing, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.
