Police Identify Fraud Suspect With Help From Facebook Followers

Jeannine Planisek was charged with receiving stolen property and forgery

Followers of the Mentor Police Facebook page helped the department identify a suspect in a credit-card fraud case, police reported.

Jeannine Planisek, 36, of Mentor, is accused of using a stolen credit card to buy more than $100 in cigarettes from the Discount Tobacco & Beverage.

Police identified Planisek after the department posted a security camera photo from the incident on their Facebook page and followers recognized her, police said..

Planisek turned herself in Tuesday and was arraigned on a felony charges of receiving stolen property and forgery in Mentor Municipal Court.

Planisek has been convicted of petty theft in Mentor Municipal Court twice before, according to online court records -- once in 1999 and again in 2009. She spent 10 days in jail for the more recent conviction.
