Police Arrest Woman Caught on Video Stealing Purse from Buffalo Wild Wings
Facebook tips led Mentor Police to arrest Kelsey Crute, 23, this week.
Mentor Police can thank Facebook yet again for an arrest.
The department used its page to announce that it has arrested the woman seen on a surveillance video stealing a purse from a table at Buffalo Wild Wings.
Tips came in after the department posted photos and short video from the restaurant that showed 23-year-old Kelsey Crute looking around before taking the purse that was left behind. Crute, a Mentor resident, was charged with felony theft and possession of prescription drugs that were not prescribed to her.
Mentor Police Chief Kevin Knight told Patch that Crute admitted she stole the purse to buy heroin, though police did not find that drug on her.
The theft charge is a felony because the victim's credit card was in the purse. According to the Facebook post, police used the tips to locate Crute at the scene of a car crash.
