OnStar Helps Police Find Drunken Driving Suspect

Richard Marucci has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and hit-skip

OnStar helped Mentor Police find a man who is accused of fleeing from a car crash and drunk.

At about 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 22, police got a call about a crash on Route 306 near the Route 2 interstate entrance.

There were no injuries in the crash both vehicles were heavily damaged.

Witnesses called police, saying a black Cadillac Escalade was involved in a crash with a Honda Element but had fled, according to the Mentor Police Facebook page.

Mentor Dispatchers worked with OnStar to locate the Escalade as it drove toward west. Willowick and Mentor police officers found the Cadillac in Willowick and identified the driver as Richard Marucci, according to Mentor Police.

Officers arrested Marucci -- who is 56 and from Willowick -- and charged him with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and hit-skip.

Marucci pleaded not guilty to both charges during his initial hearing Tuesday in Mentor Municipal Court.
