Police Release Name Of Mentor Man Who Died After Motorcycle Crash

The crash occurred Monday afternoon on Hidden Glen Drive

Don Chiappone, 51, of Mentor is dead after he crashed his motorcycle Monday, according to Mentor Police.

The crash occurred at 3:20 p.m. Monday on Hidden Glen Drive near the Meadowvale Drive cul-de-sac.

Chiappone was driving his 2001 Yamaha motorcycle east on Hidden Glen when it went off the north side of the road and hit two garbage cans, Mentor Police Lt. Dan Molnar said.

After hitting the garbage cans, the motorcycle continued east on the roadway where the motorcycle fell and began to slide.

Chiappone and the motorcycle stopped sliding in front of a house on the 9200 block of Hidden Glen.

The Mentor Fire Department transported Chiappone to Hillcrest Hospital where he was declared dead.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which is still under investigation.

Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien said that speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash.
