UPDATE: Power returns to Shore Middle, Orchard Hollow schools

2,234 FirstEnergy customers are still without power

Electricity returned to two schools in Mentor, but many residents, businesses and public buildings in the city are still without power as Hurricane Sandy's impacted reached Northeast Ohio this week.

According to FirstEnergy's power outage map, 2,234 customers did not have electricity, as of 4:30 p.m.

Mentor Schools spokeswoman Kristen Kirby said power returned to Shore Middle and Orchard Hollow Elementary schools this afternoon, but not Fairfax Elementary. The three schools closed Wednesday because of outages.
