Mentor Police Investigating Robbery at Dollar Bank

Robbe handed teller a note, demanding money, and escaped in a black Ford truck

Mentor Police are investigating a robbery that happened Monday morning at  on Mentor Avenue.

At 9:10 a.m., a man came into the bank and handed the teller a note, demanding money, said Mentor Police Lt. Ken Gunsch.

The robber did not speak or show a weapon.

The teller gave the man money. Then the robber escaped in a black Ford F-150 with an extended cab, Gunsch said. He drove west on Mentor Avenue.

Nobody inside the bank was hurt.

Witnesses described the robber as a black man with a goatee in his mid or late 20s. He had a slim build and was about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He wore a green-and-gray-striped hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and black boots.

FBI Special Agent Scott Wilson said the FBI would help by checking its records to see if any similar suspects were described at other bank robberies in the area.
