Mentor Police Chief Chases, Arrests Fleeing Suspect In Woods Near Police Station

Woman has a warrant out for her arrest from the Lake County Narcotics Agency

The job of a police chief is mostly an administrative position with less field work.

However, Mentor Police Chief Daniel Llewellyn got his hands dirty -- metaphorically speaking -- when he chased and arrested a woman with a warrant out for her arrest Wednesday afternoon.

Llewellyn saw the woman bail from a car and run into the wooded area near the police station, according to the Mentor Police Department Facebook page.

Another person in the vehicle told police that the woman -- 26-year-old Ashley Olear -- had a warrant out for her arrest.

Llewellyn chased her into the woods where Olear had "bear hugged a tree," according to the police Facebook page.

However, Llewellyn was able to convince the woman to turn herself into police and get into a cruiser.

The Lake County Narcotics Agency had issued a warrant for Olear's arrest.  She was taken to Lake County Jail.
