Mentor Police Arrest Six On Suspicion Of Drunken Driving Over Weekend

Officers charged four people on St. Patrick's Day alone

Mentor Police arrested six people on suspicion of drunken driving this weekend, two on Friday and four on St. Patrick's Day, Lt. Ken Zbiegien said.

The police department had additional officers monitoring the roads as a safety precaution this weekend because of the holiday.

While six drunken driving arrests in a weekend is above average for Mentor, it's not unheard of amount, Zbiegien said.

"There are other weekends when we have as many or more," he said.

As a point of reference, police charged eight people with drunken driving the weekend before last.

The six people who were charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated this past weekend are:

  • Jeffrey Hall, 43, of Willoughby
  • Andrew Margheret, 27, of Kirtland
  • Sean Dixon, 25, of Mentor
  • James Marshall, 34, of Mentor-on-the-Lake
  • Steven Stebner, 30, of Concord Township
  • Kathleen Simpson, 61, of Concord Township

Zbiegien added that three other people were charged with disorderly conduct because they were too drunk to take care of themselves.

Zbiegien said there were no violent crimes committed by anyone who had been drinking during the holiday weekend in Mentor.
