Mentor Police Arrest Eastlake Man Who Ran Away from Drug Deal

Mentor Police arrested a man this week who the department believes tricked a potential drug buyer.

According to the department's Facebook page, 24-year-old Eastlake resident Scott Zupancic made arrangements to sell percocet pills to a woman Wednesday in the parking lot of Best Buy. The unidentified 31-year-old woman showed up with the money, but Zupancic decided to take off with it before providing the drugs.

Police said a "fight ensued" at this point, though an officer did not return a call Thursday seeking elaboration. Officers arrested Zupancic on drug trafficking, criminal tool possession and aggravated possession of drugs charges. He also had a warrant out for his arrest in Cuyahoga County.  Court records show that case is also for drug possession.

Police said the investigation is not complete, and the woman involved in the botched deal could also be arrested.
