Mentor-On-The-Lake Man Sentenced To Month In Jail For Attempted Voyeurism

A Mentor-on-the-Lake man was sentenced to 30 days in jail.

David Kelly, 42, was sentenced earlier this month in Mentor Municipal Court, according to online court records.

He had previously pleaded no contest and .

Kelly was also sentenced to two years probation and ordered to undergo counseling and stay away from the victim.

A man called police after he saw a stranger, Kelly, looking into the window of his daughter's bedroom at about 6 a.m. Thursday, Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Chief John Gielink said.

When police arrived, Kelly tried to run away. However, Kelly had left his car in the nearby Giant Eagle parking lot so he could not run too far, Gielink said.

The police continued to chase Kelly for awhile. However, he surrendered after an officer threatened to use a stun gun on him.

Once he was in custody, Kelly admitted that he had peeked into several other windows, as well, Gielink said.
