Mentor Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide

Randall McCauley is accused of unintentionally killing a 91-year-old woman who he hit with his car

Randall McCauley of Mentor was charged with misdemeanor counts of vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle without reasonable control earlier this week in Willoughby Municipal Court.

The incident that led to McCauley's charges happened on November 15 in Willoughby.

McCauley, 62, was driving in the Willo Plaza Shopping Center parking lot when he hit 91-year-old Bertha Adams with his van as she was walking across the lot with a walker, Willoughby Police told The News-Herald.

Adams was taken to the Lake West Medical Center where she later died.

Police do not think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, according to The News-Herald.

McCauley's first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 20.
