Mentor Man Admits To Driving Drunken With Stolen License Plate

A Mentor man pleaded guilty to driving drunk with stolen license plates on his car Wednesday in .

Mentor Police arrested Mark Hudik, 27, in the early morning hours Wednesday when an officer saw him weaving on Lake Shore Boulevard, according to the Mentor Police Facebook page.

The officer suspected Hudik was drunk. However, Hudik refused to take a breathalyzer test, police said. Additionally, Hudik's license plates did not match his car.

Consequently, he was charged with receiving stolen property and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Hudik pleaded guilty to both charges Wednesday in . Judge John Trebets sentenced Hudik to 10 days in jail but Hudik can avoid that punishment if he takes a 3-day driver's intervention course and performs seven days of community service.

This is Trebets' usual sentence for first-time drunken drivers.

Trebets also gave Hudik a 270-day suspended sentence, which can be instated if Hudik gets into trouble again.

Hudik was arrested by Mentor Police in July, as well, and charged with falsification for lying about who he was to police. He had warrants out for him on charges of theft and failure to appear in court at the time, police said.

Hudik also pleaded guilty to the falsification charge and was sentenced to two days in jail.
