A Mentor man who is accused of raping a 10-year-old girl was arraigned today.
This is the information available at this time, according to Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien said:
Mentor Police were called to an area hospital during the early morning hours of Saturday for a sexual assault investigation, Zbiegien said.
The incident occurred earlier that day at a home in Mentor. The child had been sleeping and, when she woke up, 23-year-old Nathaniel Hall was violating her, Zbiegien said.
Hall was not a stranger to the child, police said.
Mentor Police invesigated the incident and arrested Hall early Monday morning, Zbiegien said.
The child is with her parents now, Zbiegien said.
Hall has been charged with rape and appeared today in Mentor Municipal Court.
Judge John Trebets set his bond at $500,000, which was not posted. His next court hearing is scheduled for Oct. 15.
Hall has no previous criminal record, Zbiegien said.
A person convicted of raping someone younger than 13 can face a sentence of up to life in prison.
