Mentor Lagoons Reopen While Police Continue Search For Missing Man

Raymond Gabor Jr. has been missing since Monday afternoon

The has reopened while Mentor Police continue to search for Mentor resident, Raymond R. Gabor Jr., who has been missing since 1 p.m. Monday

"After a thorough search of the area, by land and air, we have been unable to locate any sign of Mr. Gabor," Mentor Police Chief Daniel Llewellyn said in a statement. "We will continue the investigation as we continue to be concerned about his personal safety.

Gabor, 45, left work abruptly Monday afternoon. A handgun and prescription pills were missing from his home, according to police.

He was last seen wearing gray dress slacks, a maroon polo shirt with baby blue stripes and brown dress shoes.

Gabor’s truck was located at the trail area of the Mentor Lagoons and he was seen at about 7:45 p.m. Monday in the area of the beach at Mentor Lagoons.

Gabor is about 6 feet tall, weighs 225 pounds and has blond hair and blue eyes.

The U.S. Coast Guard provided a boat and a helicopter during the search, Llewellyn said.

In addition to Mentor Police, the Mentor Fire Department's Dive Team and a boat from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources also searched the Lagoons area for Gabor.
