Man Is Accused Of Threatening To Shoot His Girlfriend, Her Daughter

Mentor Police confiscated two guns from suspect Kirk Renfro's home

A Mentor man faces charges of aggravated menacing and domestic violence after his girlfriend and her teenage daughter said that he threatened to shoot them, Mentor Police Lt. Ken Zbiegen said.

The altercation occurred in the evening on Sept. 29 in the suspect's Mentor home, Zbiegien said.

Kirk Renfro had been drinking and he and his girlfriend were arguing over a family matter, Zbiegien said.

During the argument, Renfro threatened to get a gun from the basement and shoot both women, they told police.

Mentor Police were called to the house and they arrested Renfro. They also confiscated two locked weapons cases from the house.

The daughter said that Renfro owned an AK-47 and threatened to use it on her. However, police could not confirm what the confiscated weapons were because they were in locked cases and Renfro opted not to proffer the key, Zbiegien said.

Renfro has no previous convictions for domestic violence. His next appearance in Mentor Municipal Court is scheduled for Oct. 15.
