Man Is Accused of Assaulting Someone with an Ashtray

Nicholas Condor, 20, of Eastlake, is accused of flinging a glass ashtray at his mother's boyfriend

An Eastlake man is accused of flinging a glass ashtray at someone's head while in Mentor-on-the-Lake.

Nicholas Condor, 20, was arraigned on charges of felonious assault and menacing Friday in Mentor Municipal Court.

Condor was visiting his mother Monday in Mentor-on-the-Lake. During the visit, he abruptly flung a glass ashtray at the head of his mother's boyfriend while he was lying in bed, Mentor-on-the-Lake Lt. John Gielink said.

The ashtray broke orbital bones in the boyfriend's skull and he needed to be taken to the hospital, Gielink said.

Condor turned himself in at court Friday. Judge John Trebets released him on a personal bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.

If convicted of felonious assault, Condor could face between two and eight years in prison.
