Man Arrested for OVI After Crashing into Library Sign & Pole

This was Ryan Fitzpatrick's second OVI offense since 2009.

Mentor Police arrested a Cleveland man early Sunday morning after he crashed into a pole and a sign in front of Mentor Public Library.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, 30, is the registered owner of the vacant, white Buick Century that was spotted resting against the library sign around 3 a.m., according to the department's Facebook page. He was later found intoxicated, walking along the Center Street bridge. Officers also saw a telephone pole snapped in half.

Fitzpatrick first told police that he was robbed, but that excuse didn't fly. He was arrested for OVI, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to control his vehicle. This was his second OVI offense since 2009.
