Man Accused Of Stealing Boat Propellers From Mentor Lagoons (Updated)

George Fish is suspected of taking 12 propellers, worth about $15,000

Mentor detectives believe they have arrested the man responsible for stealing 12 boat propellers from the .

Police arrested 36-year-old George Fish of Mentor Monday on a felony county of theft.

The propellers that were taken are worth about $15,000, according to Mentor Police. Ten of them have been recovered.

Mentor-on-the-Lake Police Department initially identified Fish as a suspect in some propeller thefts that occurred in their city. They worked with Mentor Police to investigate Fish, Mentor Police Sgt. Richard Slovenkay said.

Fish was arraigned this morning in Mentor Municipal Court. Judge John Trebets set Fish's bond at $8,000, which was posted.

Fish's next court hearing is scheduled for April 2.

Fish was convicted of theft in 2009 in Lake County Court of Common Pleas. Judge Richard Collins Jr. sentenced him to 45 days in jail, drug treatment and two years of community control.

Fish violated the terms of his community control repeatedly -- being convicted for falsification twice in Mentor Municipal Court -- and. in 2011, was sentenced to a year in prison.

In 2008, Fish was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and misuse of a credit card in Mentor Municipal Court. However, most of those charges were dismissed and he ended up pleading to attempted misuse of a credit card. The judge sentenced him to six months in Lake County Jail.
